Raymond O. Hoffman Award

Every year, MSDFCU celebrates the success of our graduating high school seniors by honoring several with the Raymond O. Hoffman Award. For over 36 years, the award has been given to current year high school graduates. Mr. Hoffman was the founder and first president of Merck Sharp & Dohme Federal Credit Union. He contributed countless hours of volunteer service to the Credit Union's formation and success.

The awards are cash awards normally ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 which the graduates can use as they see fit. They are based on the graduates' volunteer efforts over a four-year period, along with an essay about these volunteer opportunities. Two letters of recommendation are also required from leaders/supervisors of the applicants where the community service duties were performed. Applications and additional information will be available in the fall of each year. Entries are submitted to a third party who judges the entries based on their community service merits. The successful applicants will be chosen and then honored at the Credit Union's Annual Meeting held in early spring.

Awardees must be members of MSDFCU or be eligible for membership.
